Major: beginning

Parts: 8

After the Commander first visits the Lower City and comes back to the Nexus, new companion conversations will be available at the camp.

After all, arriving in the Abyss is a major plot event, so we tried to add some conversations about it for those companions who did not have it by default (and even for some of those who did, like Seelah).

Hand of the Inheritor Connectivity

At the very beginning of Chapter 4, while talking to the Herald, the Commander can ask him, "Will we have to move onward all together?"

The angel then clarifies that the unoccupied companions should stay at the camp. We continued this line of thought and added the incentive to talk to the companions, so that players would understand that there were some new dialogs available to uncover.

Text snippet(s)

“Take my advice, Champion. Speak to your friends. Offer reassurance and help them see the importance of our mission."

{n}As you look at your companions, trying to get their bearings in this treacherous place, you can’t help but wonder: do they have anything to say about all of this?{/n}

Arueshalae Plot

Unlocked the Arueshalae's vanilla game dialog about Desna's protection for all players (even if they never saw the butterflies that saved Arueshalae, i.e. the DesnaSavesArueshalae flag was not set). It is available throughout Chapter 4.

We never got a chance to see it in our playthroughs after the first 200+ hours of play. So instead of writing something new for Arueshalae at the beginning of the chapter, we decided to unlock the hidden gem of her default dialog.

{n}Arueshalae seems confused.{/n} “Something is wrong. I feel like I’ve lost something… or not. It was Desna who lost me when we descended into the Abyss. […] Now I no longer feel the divine helping hand on my shoulder.”

Greybor's dialog is all about arriving in the Abyss and supplying professional advice against those who caused it.

This conversation is available from the beginning of Chapter 4 until Willodus is discussed in Greybor's Q2.

Text snippet(s)

“Yeah, falling into the Abyss is just another chapter in my book of wild adventures. […] Right next to the tale of the singing knife and the mute maiden.”

Lann Plot Romance

Lann begins to feel the first slight symptoms of Savamelekh's presence upon arriving in the Abyss.

His dialog is available at the beginning of Chapter 4 until the party enters Upper City and triggers his Bad Blood Q2 dialog there. The two dialogs are now intertwined, and the latter references this one.

It is reactive to his romance.

Text snippet(s)

{n}Lann clutches the human side of his head.{/n} “Ugh, I feel like I’m gonna be sick […] Is this what travelling between planes feels like?”

Constant vigilance is Regill's way of life. And the Commander will be notified of that.

Text snippet(s)

Seelah Plot

Seelah tries to take Galfrey's decision in stride, but she is definitely not okay with it.

This dialog is available from the beginning of Chapter 4 until the party meets Mutasafen in Middle City.

It takes precedence over the default Chapter 4 dialog for Seelah: here she tries to comprehend what's happened, and then she can pray and talk about the matter in full (vanilla game dialog).

Text snippet(s)

“I can’t believe that Her Majesty would do this to us. It’s just so… wrong. […] I keep thinking that I failed us somehow, that it’s all my fault.”

Woljif Plot

Woljif is not at all amused by the very idea of being in the Abyss. It is up to the Commander to decide whether to be understanding or harsh with him.

Woljif's opening conversation is available from the start of Chapter 4 until the moment Dark Moon Rising Q2 is started.

—I understand how you feel, Woljif. […] if we’re lucky, we might even find something worth a small fortune!
— Really? Okay, chief, I’ll stick with you, then. But I’m keeping 100% of my loot and 60% of your loot! […]"
