Overview: Chapter 2

Parts: 11

In this chapter, we've added some reactions to the Lost Chapel subplot and slightly edited the romance starting scenes, especially with Lann - that's how this whole mod started.

Since the camp encounter in Lost Chapel separates the Commander from their companions, it seemed logical to us to add a few lines of greeting and relief at their survival.

The catalyst here was Sosiel: we always wondered why a semi-neutral line counted as flirting? Maybe the Commander is just happy to see him alive! And not just him, for that matter. That's why we added a few lines for Daeran (with and without Ember), Regill, and Sosiel, so the Commander could express concern and relief for them without hitting on anyone.

Chapter 2 contains the starting points for most of the romances in the game, so we touched on some things that bothered us. And changing Lann's apple scene at the beginning of the chapter is what started this whole mod, so we even wrote an article about it on Reddit.

Liotr Killing Hulrun Plot Connectivity

Hulrun's sad and untimely demise has caused too many ripples. And it would probably be unwise to discuss it with Inquisitor Liotr Hawkblade, one of the top interrogators in the Mendev Inquisition and Hulrun's longtime disciple and colleague. So if the Commander decides to broach the subject, they must pass a Bluff check in order not to be exposed (DC 16 or DC 20, depending on the lines chosen).

There are no consequences if all bluff checks fail... for now.

If the Commander had informed Irabeth about Hulrun's death earlier in Chapter 1, Liotr will mention it.

Daeran Mythic

Daeran hates demons. Hates. Them. So we thought it was odd that he had no reaction when the Commander chose the Demon Mythic Path.

Now he is more vocal about that choice.

Text snippet(s)

“What a peculiar choice you’ve made. […] Well, at the very least, I shall be amused to watch every cleric and priest work themselves into a frenzy trying to present it as a positive thing.”

Regill Connectivity

As with other examples of closing lines, this small case was a testing ground for us. Here we experimented with randomizing the alternative lines. So Regill will say goodbye to the Commander differently every time. It's a small step for him, but a giant... er... leap for us.

{n}Regill nods and goes back to his reports.{/n}

“Commander.”
